In this research, income distribution was studied in Iran with a non-parametric approach and using some inequality indexes.
The result of the research reveals that Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and Norway have the best system of income distribution in the world. In accordance with the ranking that was released by World Bank in 2005, income distribution in Iran is in 63th position and less efficient compare to Denmark, Sweden, and Norway.
Although it has fluctuated since 1982, Gini Coefficient has a downside trend and decreases from 0.55 in 1982 to 0.39 in 2004. Likewise, Theil index shows the same trend. Since 1982, Herfindhal index has remained steady, and Shannon index has decreased, while the covariance between Gini Coefficient and Shannon index is negative. Therefore, it can be concluded that the income share for low incomes has increased.
